Crypto Miner supports a large number of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Litecoin, Yacoin, Quarkcoin, Groestlcoin, DiamondCoin Evolution v 2.0, Monero, Helixcoin, Skeincoin, and many others. Without the Pro app that costs $2.28, users will need to purchase access to individual algorithms, because not all are available without the pro option.

A user enters their mining pool credentials and then an algorithm from the drop-down menu and then they are able to specify the number of processor threads they can dedicate to the app's decryption routine (only up to four, oddly, even on phones with eight core processors). The user can also set his or her preferred processing priority and choose whether they want the app to run in the background or alert them of newly generated coins.

The app is optimized for NEON, ARM’s advanced SIMD (single instruction multiple data) architecture extension for Cortex-A processors, and requires that you join a mining pool.

MinerGate Mobile

MinerGate have a smartphone spin-off of the popular software that allows user-friendly (minus the occassional pop-up ads). The android app can be used to mine Bitcoin, Monero, Bytecoin, Dashcoin, DigitalNote and throttle the GPU usage. It also features a built-in wallet for storing generated coins, a crypto price checker tool, and miner chatrooms. One is also able to withdraw the mined cryptocurrency to MinerGate's crypto exchange, Changelly.

With the mobile miner, you are able to buy cloud mining at a fee or use the phone's system-on-chip to mine cryptocurrencies. But for mining Monero, you will need to opt for cloud-based mining.

With the mobile mining app, you are able to increase or decrease the app's thread count or in other words, the number of processor cores you can use to mine coins. You also are able to prevent it from operating if the phone's off the charger, low on battery, or on mobile data. You can also switch between low, medium or high speed when mining with this software.

Other options to go for when interested in mining on mobile phones include Crypto Miner, NeoNeonMiner, AA Miner, Pocket Miner and others.

NeoNeonMiner

NeoNeonMiner works for the Android operating system and requires its users to join one particular mining pool, though they always have the ability to freely switch between pools. It supports mining of Bitcoin, Litecoin, Feathercoin, Vertcoin and many other cryptos. It, however, disrupts a user with banner ads.

Pocket Miner

Pocket Miner is a mining app for those who do not require to so often keep switching between the crypto they want to mine. It works on Android and supports only mining of Litecoin via the LitecoinPool's servers. Unfortunately for many system-on-chip mining where there is no ASIC involved, you would spend months before generating enough income to pay for electricity expended on the device including mobile phones.

Pocket Miner plays nicely with existing cryptocurrency clients for desktops and custom mining rigs. The software also allows one to increase or decrease the processor's thread count as they wish, on the settings menu. A user is also able to select the server nearest to them and to automatically stop/start mining based on his or her phone's charging levels as well as during times when he or she has a poor Wi-Fi/data connection.
